Automated liquid conformal coating services is one of many service offerings within SCS’ broad portfolio of conformal coating technologies and solutions. Automated liquid coating services combine the company’s advanced automation processes and systems with its expertise in coating materials to deliver high-reliability protection for complex, high-volume assemblies.

SCS utilizes its programmable PrecisionCoat automated spray and dispense systems to provide the precise, repeatable application of various conformal coatings, including epoxies, RTV and masking materials. Designed for versatility, these systems use various valves, nozzles and dispensing technologies, ensuring consistent coverage across even the most complex circuit board configurations. With custom programming tailored to each assembly’s unique layout, keep-out zones and coverage requirements, these systems achieve accurate and efficient coating application every time.

SCS’ experienced team collaborates with customers to define key coating parameters based on a number of factors, including the end product’s operating conditions. For components with tight tolerances or selective coating requirements, for example, SCS can employ valve technology specifically developed for precise material application. Additionally, custom fixturing can be supplemented into the automated process to optimize coating precision and throughput. To ensure consistent coating performance, process validation may include engineering run samples, first-article inspections and in-process checks that use techniques such as UV inspection, coating thickness measurement and, if necessary, automated optical inspection.

Automating the liquid conformal coating process is ideal for mid- to high-volume programs where uniformity and process repeatability are essential. For prototypes or high-volume production assemblies with tight timelines, SCS also offers hybrid workflows, combining automated and manual techniques to ensure flexibility and efficiency. For lower-volume applications, SCS provides hand spray, brush or dip coating options.

Whether environmental durability, electrical insulation or chemical protection is the priority, SCS’ automated liquid conformal coating capabilities deliver the scalable precision required to meet customer’s stringent performance and quality requirements.
