SCS Presents at Future of EV Charging Conference
On July 17, 2024, SCS Electronics and Automotive Market Segment Manager Brent Frizzell presented at the 16th Annual Propulsion Strategies for the 21st Century: The Future of EV Charging. The conference explored some of the key challenges EVs are facing, including range anxiety, charging infrastructure, reliability and charging time. Brian J. Chislea, Technical Service and Development Scientist for Dow Consumer Solutions, co-presented with Frizzell to discuss their recent research on the need for EV charger standards.
During the presentation, “Alignment of Electronics Industry Standards with EV Charging Station Reliability”, Frizzell and Chislea discussed the reliability challenges facing EV charging stations today as well as possible solutions. They highlighted that charging infrastructure reliability difficulties can be solved by adhering to IPC design standards and by utilizing conformal coatings like silicone or Parylene to protect these electronic systems from harsh environmental conditions, including moisture and corrosion.
Coating Solutions for Critical Medical Technology
SCS exhibited at Medical Manufacturing Asia, which took place from September 11-13, 2024, at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. At the show, the SCS team presented “Coating Solutions for Critical Medical Technology” in the IVAM Forum: High-tech for Medical Devices.
Medical manufacturers depend on conformal coatings to provide critical medical technologies with essential protective properties. Among the most desired attributes of these coatings are biocompatible barrier protection and electrical insulation. This presentation provided an overview of the different coating options available to meet the specific needs of each medical application, including Parylene, liquid, atomic layer deposition (ALD) and plasma coatings.
Advanced Coating Solutions for Corrosion Protection and Reliability of Electronics
SCS recently exhibited at Electronica India, held September 11-13, 2024, at the India Expo Centre. During the show, SCS Vice President of Technology Rakesh Kumar, Ph.D. presented “Advanced Coating Solutions for Corrosion Protection and Reliability of Electronics” in the Innovation Forum.
Electronic components are often faced with tough operating conditions that can lead to corrosion. Circuit boards, sensors, LEDs and other components must regularly withstand exposure to moisture, chemicals and corrosive fluids and vapors.
