SCS Expands Presence In China With Full-Service Parylene Coating Facility

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - (November 18, 2004) -Specialty Coating Systems* (SCS*), announced today the recent opening of SCS Shanghai, a full-service Parylene conformal coating facility in China. The facility will allow SCS to better serve its customers, respond to the growing demand for its specialized Parylene coating services in Asia and bring its leading-edge technology to the region.

The expansion into China comes as SCS has purchased the assets of their former service partner Cycad Specialty Coatings Technology, Co., Ltd.. The SCS Shanghai staff includes 20 experienced employees led by China Business Manager, Lu Bo. China Assembly, also part of the Cycad group, will continue in their long-term partnership with SCS as the distributor of SCS Parylene Deposition Systems in China.

SCS Sr. Vice President and General Manager, John Fry, announced, "With the continued growth of the electronics industry in China, the new SCS operation will support the electronics, medical device and other growing markets with custom Parylene coating services. SCS brings more than 30 years of Parylene coating service experience and technology to Asia. Parylene is applied via a vapor deposition polymerization process, which results in an ultra-thin, pinhole-free conformal coating. SCS Parylene is biocompatible and offers excellent moisture, chemical and dielectric barrier properties. Parylene applications include, but are not limited to, circuit boards, ferrite cores, electronic components, medical devices, medical device components and rubber parts in the electronics, automotive, military and medical device industries.

The SCS Shanghai facility is DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 certified. SCS Shanghai joins SCS Singapore, Parylene Japan K.K. and Parylene Korea in providing SCS Parylene coating services to Asia. SCS also operates coating facilities in the United Kingdom and Ireland and four facilities in the United States.
